John William Brock
John William Brock, age 85, of Levasy, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at his home.
John was born July 14, 1924 in Carroll County, Missouri, the son of Miley and Ida (Buehler) Brock. He attended Norborne schools.
On March 12, 1949 he married Velma Jean Bowman in Carrollton, Missouri. She preceded him in death.
John served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked for Skelgas for thirty years, delivering propane, installing and maintaining furnaces and water heaters. He had been a City Councilman in Levasy and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Buckner, Missouri. He was a member of square dance clubs: Santa Fe Tails and Roadrunners.
John is survived by five children, Linda Jean Brock, Levasy, Missouri, Bob Brock and wife, Laura, Independence, Missouri, Wayne Brock and wife, Sarah, Buckner, Missouri, Janet Reeves, Independence, Missouri, Patty Dunkle and husband, Steven, Dover, Missouri, two brothers, George Brock, Richmond, Missouri, Delbert Brock, Pittsburg, Missouri, one sister, Ida Mae Knutelski, Hannibal, Missouri, nine grandchildren, Jennifer Green, Kenny Shaw, Amber Brock, Katherine Brock, Shane Brock, Ann Kiger, Caitlin Brock, Ashley Dunkle, Steven Dunkle and seven great grandchildren, Kaylee Brock, Zachary Brock, Noah Brock, Savannah Green, Eli Green, Colin Kiger and Owen Kiger.
His parents also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bogard, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 1-2:00 p.m. with a Masonic Service at the funeral home on Saturday prior to the funeral service.
The family suggests contributions be made to the family’s choice in memory of John. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.
